Mauritius: The Mauritian banana shortly cleared from the viruses that affect them for over a year

Planters of bananas in Mauritius will soon push a sigh of relief. Indeed for over a year, their plantations are hit hard by two diseases.
The first dries out the leaves and the second blackens the skin of fruits even if the inside of the banana is unaffected.
Smaller in size, bananas thus mature earlier and are softer than usual according to farmers. A fall of 75% of production was thus identified in recent months.
However Mauritian scientists in collaboration with an Australian expert have discovered how to quickly treat the viruses that affect bananas. A major campaign to eliminate pathogens thus was launched from the beginning of the week in Mauritius.
