Mauritius: The Mauritian authorities want to transform bus stations into commercial spaces

The Mauritius authorities wish to give a youthful look to the 9 main bus stations enumerated in the country. A forthcoming feasibility study will be committed and an application for foreign expertise will be requested.
Thus, aging bus stations will be transformed into shopping centers at various levels with a zone reserved for buses on the ground floor of these new retail spaces welcoming salons, shops and other restaurants.
Victoria Station located at the heart of Port Louis would be the first to undergo a thorough facelift of its welcoming facilities on a daily basis of thousands of travelers.
As a reminder, passengers traveling in buses in Mauritius have risen sharply in recent years. In 2005over 133,000 passengers used each week public and private buses to get around the island. In 2013, more than 221,500 passengers were registered in weekly average on the country's bus network.
