Mauritius: Sugar production increased on the island

While the sugar campaign since May 26, 2014 is underway and should be completed at the end of December, sugar production is currently the 319.391 tons, as reported by the newspaper Le Matinal.
As a reminder, according to the Chamber of Agriculture forecasts published in May 2014, the sugar harvest is expected to reach this year the 415,000 tons of sugar against 404.7 tons in 2013 with more than 3.8 million tons of cane harvested last year.
The richness of the cane is also higher than the previous two years in the wake of climate conditions for the maturation of the cane.
2012 sugar campaign had collected 409.200 tons, while for 2011 production had revolved around the 435.200 tons.
