Mauritius: Strong increase in tourist arrivals on the island, 101,327 tourists recorded for the month of October 2014




101,327 tourists arrived in Mauritius on holiday in October 2014. They were 92,520 in October 2013, that is, an increase of 9.5%.
 
The number of European tourists during the month of October 2014 was 58,689 travelers (+ 9%) against 53,837 visitors a year earlier.
 
This is the first time that tourist arrivals exceeds the 100,000 passengers for the month of October since 2005.
 
For its part, the market in mainland France increased by 5% with 25,046 tourists from France against 23,847 French visitors registered o the island in October 2013.
 
12,155 British tourists were to visit Mauritius in October 2014, an increase of 28.6% compared to October of last year.
 
6813 German tourists also visited Mauritius in October 2014 against 6468 in October 2013, an increase of 5.3%.
 
Tourism revenue for the third quarter (July-September 2014) thus registered an increase of 37% with 9.7 billion rupees * against 7.1 billion rupees for the same calendar period in 2013.
 
During the first nine months of 2014, tourism revenues was around 32.2 billion rupees against 29.1 billion rupees during the same period in 2013 as the Business Magazine reports.
 
* One euro roughly equivalent to 41 rupees
