Mauritius: Strong growth of Chinese tourists on the island from January to August 2014

Chinese tourists had been 44.877 to visit Mauritius during the first eight months of the year 2014 that is a strong increase of frequentation of 72.3%.
The Mauritian tourist authorities thus target between 70.000 and 80.000 Chinese tourist arrivals for 2014, as reported by the Le Défi Quotidien newspaper.
In 2013, 41.913 Chinese tourists had visited the island.
As a reminder, the tourist arrivals in Mauritius have experienced an upsurge of 2.9% with 993.106 visitors registered.
The official organism, Statistics Mauritius, still aims on an increase in tourist arrivals in 2014, with an estimated progression of 3.7% and about 1.030.000 travellers which should visit the island for this year.
