Mauritius: Storm tides Alert System set up before the next cyclonic season




The Mauritian authorities have recently announced the implementation before the next hurricane season which starts on November 15, 2015, an alert system aimed at preventing the arrival of storm tides that can hit Mauritius and giant cause waves on the coasts.

The organisation under the operational aspect, risk assessment and prevention of populations are thus managed. The system should be operational by August 2015 and be able to inform the 227,000 people living in coastal areas three hours before the impending danger.
 
* 10 million rupees will be invested to achieve this alert system. The Ministry of Environment of Mauritius will in particular seek the support of expertise of a Dutch company (Stichting Deltares) to move this folder.
 
* One euro roughly equivalent to 39 rupees
