Mauritius: Speed cameras recalibrated to flash overspeeding motorbike motorists

While the forty or so radars which are no longer operational since 1 January should soon be effective again after being repainted in yellow to be visible, the authorities are currently working on a re-calibration of the devices so that they can now flash the motorbike motorists caught speeding.
137 people have lost their lives on the Mauritian roads in 2014 against 136 deaths listed last year. 119 in 2013, 125 fatal accidents have thus grieved many Mauritian families last year. Moreover in approximately half of accidents listed, two-wheelers are involved.
As a reminder, the leading cause of fatal accidents in Mauritius is still speeding. 56 two-wheelers in particular died in 2014. 187 851 motorbikes were registered at the end of December 2014 in Mauritius.
