Mauritius: Speed cameras operational again during the course the month of May

While the license penalty points entered into force on 10 May 2013 has been canceled by the new government in place and the 49 speed cameras are not For the time being in use since 1 January 2015, speed control devices should shortly return to service in the month of May.
Mauritian motorists should thus still benefit from a reprieve of a few weeks before the speed cameras flash again after the deputies legislate on new modalities of license.
As a reminder, 38,476 motorists had been taken exceeding the speed limit in 2014 on the roads of the island. Fines had brought to the State of Mauritius some 76,952,000 rupees*.
* One euro roughly equivalent to 39 rupees
