Mauritius: Speed cameras flashing over 10,000 motorists in a little more than a month

After the launching of twenty new speed cameras, May 10, for the introduction of penalty points in Mauritius, these technological equipment had experienced misfiring at the ignition, flashing of vehicles below the speed limit.

Temporarily put out of service for several weeks in the wake of this dysfunction, the radar this time properly calibrated resumed their activity control in June.

Thus, between June 24 and July 29, 10.269 motorists were flashes for excessive speeds.

The contraventions issued to offenders have earned them an automatic loss between two and four points on their provisional license for 15 points capital.
 
Two Mauritian drivers have lost 8 points in total on their license, as indicated by the newspaper L'Express of Mauritius.
