Mauritius: Small hotels experience a decline in their rate of room occupancy

Small Mauritian hotel owners make long faces. The rate of filling of their establishment is currently between 30% and 40% while the low season in 2013 had drained in its wake 45% to 50% of occupancy.
Bissoon Mungroo, president of small hotels of the islands, explains this drop in attendance by the fact that four stars hotels practice a tariff politic of the same level of two or three stars hotels, as reported the Le Défi Quotidien newspaper.
In the aftermath, the president of the association of small hotels of Mauritius puts forward solutions to curb the phenomenon a desired decline in airline ticket prices and an increase in seats on the destination and the arrival of new flights.
As a reminder, the tourist arrivals in Mauritius for the first half of 2014 has increased in Mauritius of 4% from 471.664 travellers to 490.697 visitors in one year compared to the same calendar period of 2013.
