Mauritius: Security guards in schools to curb the rise of violence in schools

To end violence in schools and in the vicinity of establishments in Mauritius, the Minister of Education, Vasant Bunwaree, launched a tender to appoint a private organization which can provide 13 schools of security officers to stem the rise of petty crimes.

Several projects have been completed and by the government to counteract school violence and to deal with the growing phenomenon on the island.
Patrols in the vicinity of "sensitive" schools have been strengthened. And video surveillance systems are already willing to enter public schools, to secure access to educational institutions and avoid vandalism outside elements.
This coming June, 68 public colleges of the island will be equipped with such video surveillance systems.
The Mauritian government has allocated the sum of 18,500 euro to each institution to undertake video security school enclosures.
