Mauritius: Second day of strike in the sugar industry on the island

This is the second day of the strike in the sugar industry in Mauritius. For now, no agreement has been reached between the planters and owners.

Since yesterday, the strikers gathered outside the factory in some places blocking the passage of trucks.

The employees of the sugar industry still demanding a wage increase of 30%, but in return owners regrouped within the Mauritius Sugar Producers Association now want to bring the conflict to a competent court of the matter, as reported by the L'Express newspaper of Mauritius.

"People clearly see the bad faith of sugar production. It is unacceptable that sugar manufacturers make profits following the reform in the sector from refining activities, grinds land and power stations and that they refuse to share profits with workers. The latter are very angry and they are determined to fight until an agreement is signed. In any case, it is time for signature, not blackmail, "says his side unionist Ashok Subron.
