Mauritius: Scratch cards withdrawn from sale on 1 July 2015 and prohibition of advertising about games

Scratch card games will no longer be available for purchase from different retailers of the National Lottery as from 1 July in Mauritius. Scratch cards constitute 20% of the turnover of the company Lottotech.
The prohibition of advertising about the games as well as the increases in taxes on horse betting and overseas football matches will also be effective on the same deadline.
As a reminder, the company Lottotech which has the management of the national lottery in Mauritius and the different existing scratch card games in Mauritius since 2009 has earned net profits of about 167 million rupees in 2014. * The number of company business for the financial period of last year was estimated at 2.7 billion rupees.
