Mauritius: Respiratory infections have affected some 5.490 people in one week




 
From 23 to 29 June 2014, 5.490 cases of influenza or respiratory infection have been identified in the public hospitals of the island in the wake of the austral winter and a marked in cooling of temperatures, as indicated by recent figures published recently by the Ministry of health.
 
Influenza virus (high fever and cough) is nevertheless in decline compared to previous weeks, as reported by the Le Défi Quotidien newspaper.
 
Since April 7, 25.697 Mauritians were vaccinated against flu.
 
As a reminder, 85,000 doses of influenza vaccine were purchased for several weeks for approximately 10 million rupees * by the Mauritian authorities.
