Mauritius: Registration of the Mauritian sega to intangible heritage of UNESCO

The registration of the Mauritian Sega has recently been welcomed by the 9th Intergovernmental Committee for World Heritage of UNESCO in Paris.
The Committee had agreed the inscription of the sega from Mauritius to the intangible heritage of UNESCO.
The Mauritian Minister of Arts and Culture, Mukhesswur Choonee, who has defended this file to the committee he is "proud and happy" for his country.
"I congratulate all those who have worked on its preparation and especially artists that have retained this tradition alive. Being on the list of the Intangible Heritage by UNESCO, our Sega is now recognised worldwide," also said Mukhesswur Choonee.
