Mauritius: Public telephone booths bound to disappear

Public telephone booths in Mauritius are inevitably doomed to disappear with the increasing growth in mobile telephony. The 1,250 cabins or prepaid card should logically be eliminated and no longer be part of the Mauritian landscape.

The 1.6 million subscribers to mobile telephony have thus rendering out of date the use of these cabins. Furthermore, their rate per minute is more expensive than the current price for landlines and mobile phones.
A cabin per village and per town could nevertheless be preserved in the long term.
