Mauritius: Police goes on war against prostitution on the island

Some ten nocturnal strategic places where prostitutes rampant- some minor wanting to escape misery - and procurers were listed on the island by the police force.

The latter has thus decided to go on the offensive by controlling all people circulating in the zone of sex trade as in Flic-en-Flac or Grand Baie in the vicinity of public beaches.

Surveillance cameras will also reinforce the struggle and police patrols will be reinforced on the ground to deter the sex workers to practise the oldest profession in the world close to nightclubs, discotheques and other gambling houses.

In addition, hundreds of cameras will soon be deployed in the towns of Port-Louis, Quatre-Bornes, Rose-Hill and Curepipe, where prostitution is constantly gaining ground around the gardens, bus stations and even in the heart of cities, as reported by the newspaper Le Matinal.
