Mauritius: Opening of a Mauritian Embassy in Saudi Arabia in the near future

The Mauritian authorities have officially recorded at the end of last week by the Cabinet to open an embassy in Saudi Arabia in Riyadh.
The election commitment of the *Lepep alliance in power in Mauritius since December 2014 is thus respected. A decision of importance especially since thousands of Mauritian hadjis travel every year to perform the Hajj and that of Umrah, the small pilgrimage.
A Mauritian consulate in the city of Jeddah is also under consideration to help the pilgrims in case of necessity. Discussions should soon be initiated with officials of Saudi Arabian Airlines for the introduction of direct flights between the two countries.
