Mauritius: One over two section delivery by caesarean, about 15% required by the OMS
One delivery is made over two by caesarean section (43.9%) in Mauritius, in public hospitals and private clinics, short of the 15% required by the OMS.

The latest official figures reveal an alarming situation on the island, even though the trend compared to 2009 (44.4%) experienced a slight statistical decrease, according to the minister Lormus Bundoowhen asked about the issue in Parliament by MP of the opposition.

For Lormus Bundhoo several aggravating factors (diabetes, hypertension and other fetal malformations) would explain the practice of cesarean deliveries as relates the site lexpress.mu.

And Mauritian women have voluntarily Caesarean section, according to the Minister of Health of Mauritius.
