Mauritius: Obligation for tourist shops to showcase 20% products derived from local handicrafts

As from this month, all the stores with a tourist vocation in Mauritius will have to reserve on their shelves 20% of their retail space for local craft products.
A breath of fresh air for craft markets stifled or submerged by products from China and which are sold in spite of everything in Mauritius under the banner "Made in Mauritius".
For the Minister of Business, Enterprise and Cooperatives, Sunil Bholah, the measure taken will revive the market and offer a genuine opportunity to the Mauritian craft products to be better known among tourists who are very fond of souvenirs to bring in their luggage.
