Mauritius: Net increase within one year of people receiving pension on the island

The last digits of the body of the official statistics of Mauritius have put in evidence that the number of pensioners * affecting pension increased by 8.5.32 people in one year.
 
In January 2014, 177.302 Mauritians received a pension against 168.770 a year earlier.
 
On the 177.302 entitled to a pension, only 71.321 people "contributed in part" to retire when they were active, as reported by the newspaper L'Express Mauritius.
 
As a reminder, within 40 years, the Ministry of health of Mauritius provides that 358.887 older persons will be counted on the island, with a life expectancy of 80 years for women and 75 years for men.
 
The universal old age pension allocated should cost the State of Mauritius some 18.1 billion rupees (441.4 million euros) against 8 billion rupees (195.1 million euro) currently.
 
As a reminder, seniors accounted for 12% of the population of the island in 2012, with 154.369 persons over 60 years identified.
 
* Today the transition to retirement at age 65 offers the possibility to those who reach 60 years (old age of retirement at Mauritius) of a pension in pursuing a professional activity.
