Mauritius: Multiplication of controls in jewelry stores to prevent the concealment of gold
The Mauritian authorities decided to increase controls in jewelry stores to curb possible concealment of gold jewelry stolen on the part of some unscrupulous traders on the origin of the precious metal.

Since for a few months with a price of gold rising skyrocket, robberies with violence to hand fraudulently on gold jewellery increased sharply in Mauritius.

In addition, all owners of jewelry will be covered by such checks whether they are legally registered with the Assay Office and are in compliance with the legislation.

All gold jewelry should be written clearly a punch, proving the unique authenticity of the product and also identifies its origin.

500 jewelers have been approved and listed in the last census, as related by the newspaper Le Matinal.

In case of non-official registration, offenders face a sentence of two years in prison and face a fine of 100,000 rupees (2,500 euros).
