Mauritius: Moderate increases of the index of the business climate on the island

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Mauritius (MCCI) has made publicly earlier this week, its quarterly report on the index measuring the business climate.
Thus, after two quarters of decline, the synthetic indicator of business climate has increased by 3.5% and totaled 88 points, while remaining similar to that recorded last year on the same level period, as indicated in the report performed between 11 November and 2 December 2013 on the economic situation.

Opportunities for expansion and diversification in emerging markets, a flexible taxation, competitive policy in terms of exchange rates, greater access to capital, improved logistics and greater economic connectivity have enabled the Mauritian companies to be successful in their respective markets.
The report also provides a 16% increase in business investment over the next 12 months, but also notes a lack of support from government business was highlighted as related by the newspaper Le Défi Quotidien.
