Mauritius: Methadone soon directly distributed within the enclosure of police stations of the island

The Minister of Health, Anil Gayan, has recently announced the willingness of the government of Mauritius to operate the decentralization of methadone for drug addicts.
The measure should be applied as from mid-February. Police stations of the island thus ensure the role formerly vested in methadone centers. Caravans will be parked on the premises of police stations. 4,500 cards to receive of methadone already granted their beneficiaries.
As a reminder, methadone is used over 8 years in Mauritius for substitution treatment to hard drugs. Approximately 10,000 addicts are currently listed by the Mauritian authorities.
