Mauritius Medical Tourism: 15,000 foreign patients have sought treatment on the island in 2014

Medical tourism in Mauritius has drained around 15,000 foreign visitors in 2014 who came for treatment on the island in Mauritian private clinics. 35% of them have thus been hospitalized with surgical interventions least expensive by 30% to 40% compared to the European continent.
Foreign patients spent an average of 15,000 rupees * for cardiac care, ophthalmology, plastic surgery, treatment against infertility (in vitro fertilization), orthopedic dental, and other hair implants ...
The local authorities want to further develop this sector to boost the Mauritian economy. Revenues of 100 million rupees * are expected for 2015, with 10% to 12% annual growth. Mauritius wants to reach the symbolic 100,000 patients landing on the ground by 2020.
