Mauritius: Mauritian tourism authorities want to find prosperous years of the French market before 2008

The new president of the Tourist Office of Mauritius Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA), Sydney Pierre, forecasting an increase of 5% of the French market by 2015.
While the French tourists were some 244,000 to travel in Mauritius at the end of last year, MTPA wishes to reach the 300,000 visitors without set schedule and thus regain the boom years from before 2008 for the first tourist market of  the island, as stated in contract site
The metropolitan market was 11.1% in August last with 14.643 visitors from France, and, after a decline of 2.7% recorded between the months of January and July 2014.
As a reminder, the tourist arrivals to the island of Mauritius grew by 2.9% in 2013 with 993.106 registered visitors.
The official body Statistics Mauritius still plans an increase of tourist arrivals in 2014, with an increase of 3.7% and approximately 1.030.000 travelers who should visit Mauritius this year.
