Mauritius: Marine engineering courses from the next academic year at the University of Mauritius

The University of Mauritius (UoM) campus of reduced aims to integrate the next student return in August in its curriculum of courses of marine engineering and aquaculture, in the wake of the willingness of the Mauritian authorities to develop the sector on the island of the blue economy.
"This sector will need skilled... We thus want students be prepared to meet the needs of this sector instead of having recourse to foreign labour," argued on the side of the University of Mauritius, as reported in the Le Défi Quotidien newspaper.
As a reminder, Mauritius holds an exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of approximately 1.960.000 km² and co-manages with the Seychelles archipelago some 396,000 square kilometers of its continental shelf.
The Mauritian authorities want to promote the blue economy within territorial ocean space surrounding Mauritius and activate under the aegis of the Board of Investment (BOI) and the Office of the Prime Minister to draw up a strategic implementation road map.
