Mauritius: Marine Farm of Mahebourg will significantly increase aquaculture production

The official for the marine farm of Mahebourg, located in the South of the island, strongly wish to increase their capacity of aquaculture production and asked the Ministry of the environment for economic sustainability of activity downstream in this sense.
 
The authorities have no objections to this request for expansion.
 
Marine farm of Mahebourg operational since 2000 and currently produces 450 tons of fish per year, mainly for export, to attain the 3,000 tons, with a first phase of expansion next May and a second set in July 2015.

The marine farm located in the heart of the lagoon of Anse Jonchée should implement three new areas of production on its site for aquaculture ombrine and fish bars, alongside the two currently in service, as indicated in the Le Défi Quotidien newspaper.
 
As a reminder, 1.015 tons of fish were caught in the Mauritian lagoons in 2010, 500 tons were from the island for example marine farms.
