Mauritius: Loss of Rs 27 million for Waterpark

The Waterpark and Leisure Village of Belle Mare score losses amounting to 27 million rupees (more than 648 million euro) since its closure on October 11. The Board of Directors of SIT Leisure Ltd., which manages the leisure Park, had closed its doors following the two tragedies within ten days and this, until further notice.

Two cases of drowning had raised strong reactions on part and of the other. A 13 years old boy was killed on October 11 while a girl of 8 years, suffering from epilepsy, was drowned in the swimming pool on September 29. The Government had requested a commission of inquiry to shed light on the circumstances of two tragedies.
This amusement park made good recipes with the visit of children and associations during the months of October to December, due to school holidays, as outlined in the newspaper L'Express.

The management of the Waterpark was to disburse money to pay the salary of some sixty employees, this despite the inactivity of the latter due to the closure of the amusement park.
The project of businessmen of Dubayy annexing a three star hotel has even frozen pending the conclusions of the commission of inquiry.
