Mauritius: Local laboratory to detect doped horses

In the aim of putting order in horse racing, the Gambling Regulatory Authority - the regulator of gambling that has emerged in 2007; is working on the creation in Mauritius of a doping control laboratory.
Until now samples were sent to South Africa for analysis. The lab created locally and to detect doped horses and should be operational in the coming months.
Horse racing in Mauritius is held every Saturday in the afternoon and sometimes on Sundays between March and December at Champ de Mars in Port Louis. Thousands of passionate fans of horses and bettors attend in a popular fervor.
