Mauritius: Jean-Claude de Estrac, IOC Secretary welcomes the economic miracle of his native island thanks to the diversity of its population

In the wake of the 46th anniversary of the independence of Mauritius granted on 12 March 1968, the Secretary general of the Commission of the Indian Ocean (COI), the Mauritian Jean-Claude de the Estrac, Secretary-General of the regional cooperation body welcomed "an improbable and fabulous history".
 
"Mauritius, in the wake of its accession to independence was a country condemned to failure and chaos. But today the country occupies an Honourable place in the concert of nations", said Jean-Claude de Estrac, Secretary General of the IOC.
 
He also pointed out the "miracle" economic and peaceful coexistence on the island between all communities despite "difficulties and concerns", with a diversity of ethnic inexhaustible source of the success of Mauritius, as reported by the Le Défi Quotidien newspaper.
