Mauritius: Increasing the old age pension for more than 183,000 elderly people

The Le Peuple alliance (1), winner of the last legislative elections is determined to implement one of its key election promises, increasing the pension old age.
December 2014, the new Minister of Finance, Vishnu Lutchmeenaraidoo, has allocated a budget of 2.4 billion rupees (2) for the payment of pensions.
180,611 people aged between 60 and 89 years will receive 5,000 rupees, 3205 citizens aged between 90 and 99 years will be awarded a sum of 15,000 rupees a month as well as 103 centenarians of Mauritius will be entitled to payment of 20,000 rupees monthly.
The Le Peuple alliance brings together the Mouvement Socialiste Militant (MSM), the PMSD (Parti Mauricien Social Démocrate) and Mouvement Libérateur (ML)
