Mauritius: Historic Record for bank loans granted to households and private enterprises




Banking institutions of Mauritius gave no less than 300 billion rupees * credit to households and companies of the private sector on the island, as reported by the newspaper L'Express of Mauritius.
 
It is the Governor of the Central Bank of Mauritius, Rundheersing Bheenick, who announced this record figure, recorded in December 2013, in a letter dated the late February 2014 and addressed to professionals in the banking sector.
 
As a reminder, according to the association for the protection of abused borrowers (APEA) to Mauritius, three Mauritian households in four nevertheless encounter difficulties to honour their debts and repay their credit.
