Mauritius: Delivery of petroleum products increased to cope with the high demand for the month of December

The State Trading Corporation (STC) has decided to increase its stocks of petroleum products in anticipation of the increase demand fuel during the month of December.

A cargo of some 31.001 tons from the refinery of Mangalore in India should disembark on the island in less than a week and which will be added to the 63.086 tons of petroleum products already arrived yesterday for the needs of the Mauritian market.

For Megh Pillay, CEO of STC, this additional supply is fully justified with demand usually higher than normal during the month of December and to avoid any delay in the next delivery in the case of hurricane formation as indicated the newspaper Le Matinal.

"Already, there has been an increase in the consumption of gasoline. The trend is expected to continue next month with holiday periods," said Megh Pillay, CEO of STC, who also highlights an important application areas of air and sea on the island.
