Mauritius: Conference on medical tourism and its development on the island

A conference on medical tourism is held since yesterday and until tonight in a big hotel of Flic-en-Flac on the West coast of Mauritius under the auspices of the ministries of health and tourism in partnership with the Indian Ocean Consultancy and Development Company (IOCD Africa).

Participants from Europe, Asia, Africa and the Indian Ocean region are thus working on the sustainable development of the sector of medical tourism through the different opportunities for investment on the island.

For the president of the IOCD Africa, Boopen Doobah, the tourism medical sector can create a thousand jobs in the wake of the transformation of the traditional spas of hotels and spa intended also for medical practice in medical procedures and other surgeries carried out in Mauritius, as reported by the newspaper Le Matinal.

"Medical tourism will allow hotels to earn additional income," said the president of the IOCD Africa.

As a reminder, medical tourism allows patients to be treated cheaply abroad or treatment not practiced in their country of residence.

Three million tourists from rich countries travel thus each year in the world of the kind to receive care outside their country.
