Mauritius: Buses of the CNT experiencing mechanical problems in 2008, less than a year following their delivery
In the wake of the fatal bus accident of Sorèze at Pailles in the North West of Mauritius, which has caused 10 deaths and 43 injured after a serious failure of the braking system, the national Transport Company (CNT) continues to be the heart of the controversy over its handling of the bus fleet in circulation.

Thus, another 80 CNT buses trade mark Tata (Indian fabrication), delivered in 2007 had more than a dozen mechanical malfunctions, just a few months after commissioning, as indicated Lexpress newspaper of Mauritius, citing an internal document to the transit company and dated January 2008.

Oil leak on the gearboxes used in case of problems with brakes, indicator reducing non-operating speed, compressor valve and non-functional wheels front engine rear causing excessive tire and wheel resulting in a less efficient suspension.....

Breakdowns and repairs have thus succeeded in the first year of registration in Mauritius buses of Tata brand with some problems "remain recurring" according to the newspaper Lexpress of Mauritius.
