Mauritius : Belgian man stabs a German for a Rodriguan woman

A Belgian national, in his 50s, has violently assaulted a German yesterday, at around 10 hours. The latter just landed at Plaine-Corail airport coming from Mauritius. He was joined by his fiancé, a Rodriguan who is about thirty and living at La Ferme.

The Belgian, residing in Rodrigues since four years, who has a weakness for the young lady, stabbed his rival with a kitchen knife in the parking area outside the airport. The 52-year old German was stabbed in the chest and arms. The young lady's brother along with other relatives managed to restrain the aggressor.

The German national has been admitted to intensive care at Queen Elizabeth Hospital at Crève Coeur. The Belgian, who was left with a fractured jaw, was also hospitalised, as reported by L'Express newspaper. The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) on the island has launched an inquiry.
