Mauritius: Bananas of the island hit by two diseases

For almost one year, the banana plantations of Mauritius have been severely affected by two diseases. The first dry the leaves and the second darkens the skin of fruits even if inside the banana is not affected.
Of smaller sizes, bananas thus mature early and are softer than usual according to farmers. A drop of 75% of production was noted.
In addition, heavy rains in recent weeks have hardly favored the cultivation of bananas on the island. And the situation might be difficult with the approach of the southern winter.
