Mauritius: Average expenditure per tourist in net decline for the year 2013

According to the latest official figures who assessed the average expenditure incurred by tourist on the Mauritian ground, 40.839 rupees * spent per passenger landing in Mauritius during the year 2013.
The average expenditure per visitor for the last year is thus in net decline from 2012 where the amount spent was around the 45.967 rupees, as reported by the newspaper Business Magazine.
As a reminder, the tourist arrivals in the island of Mauritius grew by 2.9% in 2013 with 993.106 registered visitors.
In 2009, the tourists travelling to Mauritius spent some 40.963 rupees during their stay.
For the year 2010, this figure reached the 42.207 rupees and 44.283 rupees in 2011.
Meanwhile, the official body Statistics Mauritius previewed on last March an increase of tourist arrivals in 2014, with an increase of 3.7% and approximately 1.030.000 travelers who should visit Mauritius this year.
