Mauritius: Anger rises in Port Louis against hawkers

Accused of unfair competition against traders in the Mauritian capital, the president of the Common Front Merchants, Raj Appadu, announced at the end of the week the holding of a large demonstration against hawkers in front of the municipality of Port-Louis and specifically invite local authorities to assume their responsibilities.

In the crosshairs of the Common Front Traders who had threatened to stop paying their registration fees, the position of the municipality of Port-Louis has not found a permanent solution to the problem of hawkers.

The mayor of Port-Louis, Hassam Hossenally is directly affected by these critics for its passiveness on this sensitive issue, because according to Raj Appadu asked several times to discuss the issue, Hassam Hossenally would not pursue his applications.
For his part, the mayor Hassam Hossenally responded through the press via the newspaper Express of Mauritius, saying he was "very busy these last days", but seems to open a dialogue over the course of the week.
