Mauritius: An Indian surgeon ORL operates on the island

Since last week, an Indian surgeon Otolaryngologist (ORL) of the Chennai hospital is in Mauritius to operate locally some twenty patients including children during an interventions for disabilities hearing and considered as difficult to perform.
Operations made possible in the wake of the agreement between the Mauritian Ministry of health and the Research Institute of the hospital in Chennai.
Professor Ravi Ramalingam has notably praised local authorities for the maintenance of free medical care on the island, despite an ailing world economy.
As a reminder, in Mauritius a new born out of 1,000 is deaf at birth, and this, "due to genetic predispositions", as stated in the Le Défi Quotidien newspaper.
