Mauritius : Air Mauritius reinforces its presence in China

Air Mauritius increases the frequency of its flights to China this year. The national aviation company will serve Shanghai with a third flight from Tuesday 21 January. The company is set to add an additional weekly flight to Beijing next July.

The national aviation company will now offer three weekly flights to Shanghai and two flights to Beijing a week. In addition, Air Mauritius already operates two weekly flights to Hong Kong and three flights to Kuala Lumpur, where passengers can also go to China.

Air Mauritius aims to increase 57% of seat capacity on its flights to China. The number in seats is expected to reach 146,000 against 93,000 for the financial year 2013/2014.

According to Andre Viljoen, Chief Executive Officer of Air Mauritius, tourists arrivals from China have gone up from 20,900 in 2012 to 42,000 in 2013, as reported by L'Express newspaper.
