Mauritius: A vast area of freight cargo in development at the international airport of Plaisance

After the delivery of the new passenger terminal of the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam international airport of Plaisance on September 12, 2013, Airports of Mauritius Limited (AML) has recently launched a call for tenders for the construction of a freight cargo of some 175,000 area m2 accommodating warehouses and industrial complexes.
The creation of this area of freight cargo was initiated by the Mauritian Government which wants to set up a regional platform of freight cargo in the heart of the airport facilities of Plaisance in the wake of the continuous increase in handling operations.
Work should be completed by the end of 2015, according to the Le Défi Quotidien newspaper.
As a reminder, Airports of Mauritius Limited also account to develop within the next year two new parking facilities that can be approved on the tarmac the large civil aircraft of types A380.
A reception room of the guests of honor of some 5,000 m2 and adjacent to the new terminal as well as a new control tower must also emerge on the horizon of 2015.
