Mauritius: A project of new modern slaughterhouse envisaged

The Mauritian authorities wish to build a new slaughterhouse and replace the one currently implemented in Roches-Bois, on the outskirts of Port Louis.

The project of a modern building of 1,700 m2 with all the necessary infrastructures with the cutting, hygiene, preservation and delivery of the meat is expected to cost some 223 million rupees *. A waste treatment plant and an incinerator is also announced.
The first pickaxe are scheduled for the end of the year and the construction site should be completed in early 2017.
* One euro roughly equivalent to 39 rupees
