Mauritius: A prison open to women in construction to rehabilitate inmates

A prison open to women, whose construction work should begin soon, should see the light of day in December next to Residence Barkly in Beau-Bassin.
The works are estimated at 21 million rupees, or about 525,000 euros.
The jail open for women may thus receive about twenty prisoners, with a vegetable garden and an area for poultry under a rehabilitation program.
Inmates will also be selected in advance to integrate this open prison, as reported by the newspaper Le Défi Quotidien.
