Mauritius: A law in preparation for controlling dogs and to reduce attacks
The Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam has announced that the Mauritian government in Parliament on Tuesday is considering the introduction of a draft law "Animal Welfare Bill" to curb the number of dog attacks on the island by monitoring potentially dangerous animals.
 
Since 2011, 230 attacks on people have been recorded, including 27 for only earlier this year.
 
Navin Ramgoolam also recalled that since January 18, the government banned the import and breeding dog breeds in Mauritius whose dangerousness has been clearly established island.
