Mauritius: A free zone in activity by 2016 not far from the International Airport of Plaisance

The organism managing the international Airport of Plaisance in Mauritius, Airports of Mauritius Ltd, chose to implement on a plot of 71 hectares a new free trade zone.
The latter may especially welcome air freight. Transhipment operations should reach 62,000 tons in 2015 and 90,000 tons in 2025.
Implanted in the South East of Plaisance airport, the project is expected to cost 950 million rupees. *
The construction of a space reserved for cargo aircraft has already been completed in September.
A second phase should start thus before the end of of 2014 with the establishment of an activity park of 10 hectares.
The final stage of the project that should be set up by 2016 consist of finishing the construction of an industrial zone specialised for export, as indicated by the Le Matinal newspaper.
