Mauritius: A draft law to fight against the navigation on child pornography sites in preparation

The Department of Information Technology and Communication (ICT) is working on a draft law to fight against the Mauritian users who try to access sites pedophile character.
The ICT Minister Tassarajen Pillay Chedumbrum thus wants to protect children and discourage sailing on such illegal sites while severely punishing offender surfers.
Between February 2011 and September 2013, more than 24,000 Mauritius Internet users have thus tried to connect to blacklisted sites that feature online child sexual exploitation.
As a reminder, some Mauritian Internet users easily circumvent protection protocols installed upstream connecting to international servers that allow them to change their IP address every hour to consult freely child pornography.

Computer filters authorities established by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA) and the local ISPs to block access to sites with pedophile character still manage to block a small amount of traffic.
1088 child pornography sites were blocked between February 2011 and September 2013 to Mauritian Internet users, as shown in the newspaper Le Matinal.
