Mauritius: A dozen officers of coastguard raise awareness among youngsters to the protection of the environment on the beach of Albion
As part of the 26th anniversary of the establishment of the Coast Guard in Mauritius, a dozen officers were deployed to the field on Monday on the popular beach of Albion, for an educational mission in the first day of school vacation for children.

The operation, which began the week ahead in primary schools aimed to educate younger about the dangers inherent of the sea and especially the importance of protecting the environment so that children now have the reflex to stop littering in the sea or on the beach, as related by the newspaper the Défi Quotidien.

"We have organized several activities last week, especially in primary schools and the cleaning of the beach across the island. The amount of waste that we have collected is amazing. Some people unfortunately are not aware of the harm that they cause to the environment, leaving behind their plates, glasses and other plastic utensils", said one of the officers who participated in this campaign for the environment.
