Mauritius: A computer hacker of 35 years old had planted the online site of the government, is fined
A hacker was sentenced by Justice of Mauritius, to a fine of 25,000 rupees (640 euro) for the offense of hacking.

In May 2005, the Mauritian government inaugurated with great fanfare its new Internet platform to access multiple online services.

Three days after its launch, the official website two servers are attacked by thousands of requests, making the site the Mauritian government temporarily unavailable.

A police investigation is carried out quickly to find the hacker and the PI is traced, leading to the questioning of an administrative employee at the Ministry of Information, Technology and Telecommunications.

During the house searches, the Mauritius Police gets hold of a newspaper describing the mechanisms of defense against computer attacks.

The 35 year old man accused of the crime of hacking, after admitting the facts to the investigators, retracted his confession.

His lawyers have always denied them, saying their client's confession was obtained under duress.
